Espresso Macchiato

The espresso macchiato is a shot of espresso that is “marked” with steamed milk.  The espresso should be brewed as if one was preparing to serve just the espresso.  A small spoon of steamed milk is then placed on the top of the espresso.  The crema of the espresso should still be visible around the edges of the espresso cup with a domed dollop of foam in the centre.  The foam adds smoothness to the espresso.
